Congratulations, Niecy

Deloraine based Niecy Brown, has recently been elected as State President of Tasmanian Regional Arts. Niecy has strong community and cultural development background in the arts and education sectors with a special interest in social justice. Known locally for her role in producing Yarns and The Meander River Festival her more recent involvement with the arts has been as artistic director of Windows On the Arts WOAD event during the Tasmanian Craft Fair with Arts Deloraine.
“I am really thrilled to be elected as president of TRA. I have been on the board for the past 2 years and have developed a deep respect for the Executive Officer and staff at head office in Latrobe and fellow board members. They are great mob who achieve so much for Tasmania’s cultural life” commented Niecy.
Tasmanian Regional Arts has been the peak organisation for regional arts and community cultural development in Tasmania for over 65 years . TRA represents over 2,000 individual members from affiliate community arts groups including 29 regional arts branches and 21 affiliated organisations.
TRA is:
  1. dedicated to supporting access to and participation in the arts through provision of quality advisory services and resources to all Tasmanians;
  2. a key arts and cultural development partnership organisation in regional communities through work with all artforms, community organisations, government, educational and business partners
  3. and advocates for the creative aspirations of all Tasmanians to actively contribute to the states cultural, social ,environmental and economic life of the state .
