Dragonboating Deloraine Triumphs On First Outing

posted 22 Apr 2014, 14:51 by Unknown user

On Saturday 22nd March, DragonBoating Deloraine fielded 8 members to participate in the inaugural North Esk Dragon Boat Festival in Launceston, says Club President Peter Ashton.

To help make up a team, we combined with 6 Club members from the Derwent Storms Dragon Boat Club from Hobart and participated in 3 Races on the river opposite Seaport.

Our combined team was given the name of 'The Deloraine Storms' and we won, yes won! ALL 3 of our races.  We now have a Trophy in the form of an engraved paddle to brag with.

Our Club now has a Licence agreement with Council to access the river here in Deloraine and we have had several practice sessions in our 10 paddler boat.  Now that the weather is starting to close in the Clubs main training sessions will be taking place on Sundays between 11 am and 12 noon.

Prospective paddlers are invited to attend any of our Training sessions which last around 1 hour and up to 3 trial paddles may be had as a guest of the Club before a decision to join the Club needs to be made.

Paddles and life jackets are supplied and a Fee of $5.00 per person per session is levied which goes into Club finances.
