Dragon Boat in Meander Valley

posted 18 Sep 2013, 06:36 by Unknown user

Dragon Boating Deloraine Inc  met on Sunday 8 September 2013, for a barbeque and to work out the modifications that would be needed to a donated trailer in order to transport the 2 Dragon boats they are making.

The building of their first boat began in mid February this year and is now almost at the stage where it can be painted.  The second boat has been cut out and will be started shortly.  The Club is currently looking for help with the building of the Dragon heads and tails for the front and back of the boats.  So if there is any creative person out there in the community who would like to help or advise on this, the Club would be more than happy to make contact with you.

At present, the boat builders meet between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday evenings at Exton and at other times by arrangement. They are very hopeful that the first boat will be ready for testing and trials on the Meander River during Craft Fair 2013 on the first weekend in November.

The group will be meeting for their AGM on Thursday 26 September 2013, at 6pm in the Community Complex meeting room, Alveston Drive, and anybody interested in Dragon boating is invited to attend.  Membership fees of $85.00 per adult membership for the 2013/4 year will be confirmed at the meeting and may be paid on the night.

If you feel you'd like to help with the construction of the boats, or are considering becoming a Club member, contact Peter Ashton on mobile 0409 234 061 for more information.
