Re-establishment of a Newspaper

posted 13 Sep 2013, 00:09 by Unknown user
Dear Residents and Community Members,

Since Chris Keating indicated he was unable to take on the responsibility of a community newspaper for Meander Valley, I have had several phone calls and emails from people within our community about the options for the re-establishment of a newspaper. Whilst there has not been an overwhelming uproar about the decision of Fairfax it is our understanding that the issue of organisations and businesses not being able to get their messages out to the broader is still problematic.

In discussions with other interested community members on this issue I have indicated that Council is not in the business of running a community newspapers and like other organisations does not have the resources to do so, however we are happy to play a role in working with individuals and groups to develop a sustainable model for an effective communication medium.

To this end we would like to invite you and anyone you know with an interest in this issue, to a meeting to establish some options on a way forward. Please send this invite on to other people you think who might be interested in this issue.
